MCM Environmental Services Ltd is a team of radioactive waste management experts with unique international strategic, scientific and technical experience in radioactive waste management.

We deliver consultancy and advisory services aimed principally at decision-makers, programme planners and technical managers who wish to access decades of global experience to ensure that cost-effective projects are at the leading edge of the international state-of-the-art.

Our capabilities extend across the entire lifecycle of radioactive waste management programmes –  from high-level strategy and project initiation to through-life information management activities.

We are known for our proficiency in the integration of complex scientific, technical, economic and societal information to identify, quantify and justify practical and strategic waste management options.

Our key, specialist skills include the areas of systems engineering, geosciences, chemistry and natural hazards along with considerable global experience in the geological disposal of radioactive wastes and the evaluation of radioactive contamination.

Who we are

Based in the UK, MCM’s Core Team works closely with the Founding Partners – Dr Charles McCombie, Professor Neil Chapman and Dr Ian McKinley and a network of global Associates to deliver radioactive waste management excellence to our clients.

MCM Supports Development of Nagra ‘RD&D Vision’ Prior to Siting Proposal Announcement

Nagra met an important milestone in its deep geological repository programme last month with the announcement of Nördlich Lägern as its proposed host site for a repository. To support this, Nagra has made a variety of documents available which are aimed at the public, providing more inforation in an easily consumable format.

MCM is happy to have helped in developing the ‘Nagra RD&D Vision’, a high-level pamphlet which outlines the context, drivers and long-term plans for RD&D to further support Nagra’s programme in the coming decades. The pamphlet is available to download via the Nagra website.

MCM was well positioned for this work due to our close collaboration on the Nagra Roadmap – summarised at a strategic level in the RD&D Vision – and more general support in updating the RD&D Plan (NTB 21-02).

This short project has been a great the opportunity to use the technical, communication and graphics expertise of our team – led by Jake Kinghorn-Mills, and we hope the vision is useful as a condensed summary of the detailed and complex topics involved.
